PP fastening tape

The polypropylene VerBAND and VerSTRAP tapes we offer meet the requirements of the European standard PNEN 13394:2007 "Packaging. Requirements for non-metallic strapping tapes for packaging."

Product description:

PP tape is used to strap and secure loads on pallets, strap loose elements to bale them, connect products into packages, and also to secure smaller packages (e.g. cartons, boxes, rolls, wooden elements, etc.). PP tape can be packed both manually and using semi-automatic and automatic packaging machines designed for this purpose.

How to use the different types and widths of PP tapes:

Packaging method VerBAND Tape width
hand Yes 12 - 19 [mm]
semi-automatic - frameless Yes 12 - 16 [mm]
automatic - with frame NO 12 - 16 [mm]
hand Yes 12 - 16 [mm]
semi-automatic - frameless Yes 9 - 16 [mm]
automatic - with frame Yes 5 - 16 [mm]

Manual use:

  • We place the tape on a dispenser designed for this purpose and manually unwind the required section, which we then cut off using a sharp tool (e.g. a tensioner with a knife dedicated to polypropylene tape).

  • Then we tie it around the load and connect it with a special buckle (metal or plastic), and then we tighten the strap with a hand tool called a tensioner. The tension force of the strap depends on the load being secured.

  • The general rule for selecting strapping for a given load is: the total strength of the strapping of a given load (the strengths are given in catalogue cards or offers) must be at least twice the weight of the load.

Machine use:

  • We install the tape roll in the semi-automatic tray

  • We pass the tape through the unwinding and feeding system and then start the semi-automatic machine according to its operating instructions.

  • We then adjust the welding parameters to achieve optimal tape welding.

  • The strap cannot be used as a load-bearing element.

Banding tape - additional information:

Security

The tape does not contain any hazardous or harmful substances, including heavy metals. It is manufactured on the basis of a propylene polymer with the addition of a polyethylene-based dye.

Storage

The manufacturer recommends storing the rolls on wooden pallets, in a dry room, at a positive temperature not exceeding 50°C, on a flat surface, in a horizontal position.

The rolls should be arranged in layers (max. 10 layers on a pallet). The rolls should be factory-protected by the manufacturer with cardboard shields or cartons.

Factory full pallets (48 - 60 rolls) should not be stacked.

Durability

  • The tapes retain their strength parameters in the operating temperature range from -20ºC to +60ºC.

  • After using the tapes in conditions of exposure to UV radiation contained in sunlight, white/transparent tapes retain their properties for 6 months, tapes in other colors: 12 months. In the case of not being exposed to UV radiation, these periods are extended to 24 months in both cases.
